Covers the basics

Review Date: December 10, 2005

This concise book covers the basics of the trading methodologies used and preached by the famed WD Gann. It's a quick read, and a useful tool for the Gann novice, primarily focusing on his more accessible Angles, trading rules, and methods for determining accumulation/distribution. There's a brief passage on his nebulous Law of Vibration, but not much focus on his more controversial astrological and biblical methods of price forecasting, which is probably to this book's benefit since such prognostication tools are of questionable value to actual traders.

One complaint is the constant repitition of long blocks of text in the margin. One reads the main text, notices text in the margin, and sees it's the same thing again. I would have rather seen a few quotes selectively incorporated every five pages or so, as I found the repetition distracting and of little value. Also, this book carries the typical trading book premium, so I'd recommend readers look to pick it up for a little less than the asking price.

Overall, a good and valuable resource.
Good introductory book on WD Gann theories

If you are completely unaware of WD Gann's work and theories, Droke's book might be a good entry door for what concerns the "geometrical" part of his work. But remember, it's just the door; Mr. Gann's work is complex and far more difficult to master than the contents of this booklet may let you think.
Read it and then, if still interested, go for more thorough studies.
Gann Over-simplified

This was a great disappointment. I have been wrestling with a DVD course on Gann and thought that if I got a different perspective from someone else, it might have helped. This book did have one interesting insight, regarding how you can tell if a bottom is a real bottom by whether all the shares have finally passed from weak to strong hands, but none of the Gann tools offered by my charting package was covered - nothing about how to anticipate resistance in time, no square of 9, no Gann boxes, no dividing ranges into eigths and thirds etc.

Most of the book seemed to me to be more about how clever Gann was, with odd little quotes from Gann's writings sprinkled through it.
Gann OVERsimplified

This book reminds me of tricks I used to use in high school when typing up essays to make them appear longer than they really were.

First of all, the book is sparse at just under 100 pages of text. On top of that, a large font and 1.5 spacing is used. To top it off, about 2/5 of the page is set aside for a 'margin', in which the publisher occasionally re-prints some of the text from the rest of the page in bold...I guess like a highlight reel or something.

If you're looking for a Cliff's notes on Gann, this is your book. Anything more than that, beware, this book is a COMPLETE waste of money. There can't be more than 40 (real) pages of content in this thing...and the content...nothing I didn't already know about Gann's methods reading Investopedia articles.

Choose another book.
Came in very handy for my trading methodology
